Never Fail Hot Rolls
Ingredients
2 Cakes or Packages of Yeast
2 Cups Lukewarm Water
½ Cup Shortening
½ Cup Sugar
2 teaspoons Salt
2 Eggs
6½ Cups Flour (enough to make easy to handle)
Directions
① Soften yeast in water, add sugar, salt, and 3 cups of flour.
② Beat by hand or with electric mixer until smooth. Add shortening and eggs and beat well again.
③ If using mixer, beat in another cup of flour, then stir in remaining flour or enough to make an easy-to-handle dough.
④ Knead well and place in greased bowl. Cover and set in warm place to rise until more than doubled in size. (2 hours or longer)
⑤ Shape into rolls and place on well-greased pan. Cover and let rise until light or about 20-30 minutes.
⑥ Bake at 375° for 20-25 minutes.
Makes 2½ to 3 dozen rolls
