Grandma Pickens' Recipe

Ingredients


1 Cup Sifted Flour
½ Cup Shortening
1 teaspoon Salt
¼ Cup Cold Water

Directions


Sift flour and salt into medium mixing bowl.
Cut shortening into flour with a fork.
Gradually stir water into flour and shortening mixture.
Gather dough together with fingers and press firmly into a ball.
Roll out on floured surface.
Ease into a pie plate, trim ragged edges with knife.
Fold extra pastry back and under, and build up a high fluted edge to hold filling.
For a cream pie, prick crust several times with fork before baking.
Bake at 450° for 8 to 10 minutes.
Makes enough for 1 large single crust pie
May be doubled for two pies or a double-crust pie.
